Would you like to grow your nails perfectly but they keep breaking? Are you embarrassed by the appearance of your nails or feet? Would you like to have lovely natural nails? If your answer to any of these questions is YES then you would definitely benefit from special nail care sessions.

What is a manicure?

The term manicure comes from the Latin word “manus” which means hand and “cura” which means care. Manicure is commonly known as a cosmetic beauty treatment enjoyed by everyone for the hands and natural fingernails including shaping and polishing. This treatment began 5000 years ago in India when henna/mendhi was used for manicure. Nowadays, women don’t only get manicure for health reasons but also for its aesthetic value since painted nails or nail arts also reflect one’s fashion statement.

What is a pedicure?

The word pedicure comes from the Latin words “pes”” which means foot and “cura”” which means care, thus, “the care of feet and toenails”. The origin of pedicures dates back to ancient Egypt where a carving of a pharaoh’s official was noted as representing pedicures and manicures. In the modern times, a pedicure is known as a cosmetic or beauty treatment that improves the appearance of the feet and toenails. This treatment is known to be beneficial because it helps in preventing nail diseases or disorders.

What to expect from the treatment?

A manicure or pedicure starts with washing and cleansing client’s hands and/or feet. Old nail polish is removed with a nail polish remover or acetone and then dried. The nails are then trimmed, if desired by the client, depending on the preferred length and shape. The nails are then soaked in water or immediately with cuticle remover to soften the cuticles. Next, the cuticles are pushed back, removing dead, loose skin. Nails are polished afterwards and a layer of nail polish is applied if required. With the various colours and designs available, one has a lot of choices to pick from.
